Butterfly Keeper

We are looking for a hard working, enthusiastic Butterfly Keeper to join our team, working within the zoo area of our attraction.

As Butterfly Keeper you would be responsible for the professional day-to-day running of our 2 tropical Butterfly Houses at Studley Grange.

Main Duties to cover:

• Managing the tropical habitats within the butterfly houses, ensuring the best environment is provide for the butterflies to thrive.To include plant and pond management
• Developing and maintaining an in-house breeding programme for the butterflies/Atlas moths
• Ordering/managing the stock levels of pupae, to ensure a year round display of a variety of butterflies/Atlas moths
• Maintaining high levels of health and safety by keeping the Butterfly houses clean and tidy at all times including sweeping paths and keeping walkways cutback
• Deliver educational and informative timed talks with visitors of all ages, ensuring a high level of visitor experience is received by all visitors.

Additional Duties to cover:

• Manage sales of entry tickets into Butterfly World
• Liaise with and assist other animal keepers and staff where required • Support with any other responsibilities or tasks as requested by your Manager Essential
• Knowledge and experience of butterflies
• Knowledge and experience of horticulture
• You must be friendly, confident and approachable
• You should be able to work under pressure during our busy periods
• Ability to demonstrate high levels of customer service
• Experience of using tills would be beneficial
• Ability to work in a tropical environment
This is a full time, permanent position and due to the nature of our business applicants must be willing to work every other weekend, bank holidays and school holidays.

One full-time/Two Part-time Positions available in our Butterfly World Shop

We are currently looking for either one full-time or 2 part-time enthusiastic, reliable members of staff to join the team in our busy Butterfly World Shop

Main duties to cover:

Day to day running of the shop
Serving customers
Demonstrating high levels of customer service
Maintaining stock levels and displays

Applicants should be able to work on a rota basis including alternative weekends, and school holidays.
